J. Emory Wood

J. Emory Wood is originally from LaGrange, Georgia and graduated from LaGrange College with a degree in Psychology in 1976. He attended Stetson University College of Law graduating with Honors in 1979. Mr. Wood was a member of Law Review at Stetson and after graduation originally was an Associate of Harris, Barrett and Dew in St. Petersburg. In 1981 he started at Butler and Neilson in Tampa which eventually became Butler, Burnett, Wood and Freeman. In 1985 Mr. Wood left the firm and began his own practice which continues today as Wood, Gross and Wood.

Mr. Wood is Board Certified by both the Florida Bar and the National Board of Trial Advocacy in Civil Trial practice and estimates that he has tried over 400 personal injury Jury trials. He has tried cases throughout most of the State of Florida. Over the years he has tried cases involving negligent security, medical malpractice, wrongful death, libel and slander, premises liability, boating accidents and automobile accidents.

Mr. Wood has been recognized as being an AV rated Lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell for 20 years. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has been recognized as a Top Lawyer in Tampa Bay, the Nation’s Top One Percent, a Super Lawyer. He has been recognized 10 Best Client Satisfaction Award 2015 by American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys.

Mr. Wood has previously served on Judicial Nominating Committees for the Sixth Judicial Circuit and the Second District Court of Appeal. He is active in First United Methodist Church of St. Petersburg where he has served on numerous committees.
